SD Remix Lite PAL Alpha 2 released!

Hello chaps! After long last, we’ve finally fixed the long standing bug with Kirby’s Up+B in the PAL release of SD Remix Lite. We’re still calling it an alpha release for now, but please do try it out if you have a PAL version of SSBM.

In addition, we’ve gotten some feedback that some people don’t like the NTSC top tiers and instead want to play SD Remix Lite with the PAL balance to the top tiers. We’ve decided to be accommodating and release two versions of the PAL version of SD Remix Lite to account for this, one with the normal PAL top tiers and one with the NTSC buffed top tiers, as it’s really not up to us to decide what you want to play. In addition, one of the feedback we’ve gotten over in the United States is that it’s nice that it doesn’t mess up your Melee gameplay, as the top tiers are the same, and we’d like to extend that possibility to our PAL friends as well.

Without further ado, please go to our SD Remix Lite downloads page for the latest release(s).

Happy smashing!

Public Alpha for SD Remix 3.2.1 PAL!

Hey PALs!

We’ve had some semi-public testing for the PAL version of SD Remix Lite going for a little while, and we haven’t heard about any bugs, so we decided it’s time to release it on the site officially. We’re still calling it an alpha for now, though.

You can get it at the SD Remix Lite downloads page.

Instructions for installing/using it are at our SD Remix Lite Instructions page.

If you find any bugs, let us know, preferably at the official smashboards thread. If enough people play it and report on it, we’ll be able to promote it to a normal release, instead of Alpha or Beta.

Hope you enjoy it! Happy smashing!

Version 3.2.1 Released (Bugfixes)

Hi y’all,

Even with our own internal testing, there were inevitably things we missed. Unfortunately, not all of them were trivial, so we’ve had to release an update to all versions, including SD Remix Lite. Here’s what’s changed in 3.2.1:

  • Single button melee is fixed (does not affect Lite)
  • Both Mount Olympuses no longer crash in training mode (also affects Lite)
  • Cranky’s Treehouse right side can no longer be clipped through (also affects Lite)
  • Ganondorf’s Up+B is no longer broken on inclines (also affects Lite)

We could have lived with most of it until the next version, but the Ganondorf bug was the main reason for pushing out a patch.

You can get the latest version on our Downloads page.

Anyway, sorry for the bugs, and hope you’re enjoying the overall SDR experience!

SD Remix 3.2 Lite NTSC Universal is out!

We’re happy to announce that the universal version of SD Remix 3.2 Lite is released! The previous version only worked on v1.02 of the NTSC version of Smash, which is the latest version of SSBM to be released in North America. However, with this release, all versions of SSBM released in the NTSC regions (which include USA, Canada, and Japan) are supported, so you don’t have to worry about compatibility anymore!

You can download it from the SD Remix Lite Downloads page.

We’ve also revamped our instructions on how to use SD Remix Lite, and they cover a lot more options and are much more comprehensive. Check them out at our SD Remix Lite Instructions page.

Have fun, and happy smashing!

SD Remix 3.2 Lite for SSBM v1.02 Released!

We’re pleased to announce that SD Remix 3.2 Lite for SSBM v1.02 is now available to the public!

SD Remix Lite is a version of SD Remix that can be run with no console modification. It uses a special save file that has all of the SD Remix data, and by going into the Name Entry screen from the main menu, you can activate SD Remix, giving you all of the SD Remix characters, new stages, and new features! Check out the SD Remix Lite Changelist for more details!

Only v1.02 of Super Smash Brothers Melee is supported. It is the latest and the most common version of SSBM in the NTSC regions of the world (USA/Canada, Japan, most of Central and South America). The second most common version is v1.00, which was the first version of the game released. The SD Remix Lite for v1.00 is in the works, and will be supported in the future. If you don’t know which version your copy of SSBM is, please refer to the section “What version do I have?” in our ISO Guide.

Our hope is that SD Remix Lite will increase the availability and accessibility of SD Remix and allow more people to enjoy the mod than ever before. If you’ve ever wanted to play SD Remix, but you did not want to hack your console to do so, now is your chance! If you have a copy of SSBM v1.02 and a spare memory card, you can copy SD Remix Lite from someone else who has a copy. If you don’t know anyone personally, try asking your local scene. Maybe someone will be willing to distribute it!

If you want to help spread SD Remix to the masses and you can already run homebrew, you can help us out! The download is at the SD Remix Lite downloads Page and the instructions to get it onto your memory card are at the SD Remix Lite Installation Instructions page.

Some of you may be wondering why we have SD Remix 3.2 Lite, yet the public version of normal SD Remix is still at 3.1. That’s because SD Remix 3.2 is still under development, and there are a few remaining tasks left. We’re working on getting it released, so stay tuned!

In the meantime, we hope you enjoy SD Remix 3.2 Lite!

Edit: We forgot to mention that SD Remix Lite does not run on Dolphin. If you would like to play SD Remix 3.2 on Dolphin please wait for the full release of the normal version.

New easier method of creating SD Remix ISOs!

Hey there everyone! We’ve figured out a much easier way of creating SD Remix ISOs, which should hopefully make your lives easier and encourage more people to give us a shot.

The method is patching. We’ve created patches for different versions of Melee to turn them into SD Remix. All you need now is an ISO of SSBM, the corresponding patch for that version (which you can get at our Downloads page), and a xdelta (we cover the GUI version in our instructions). In addition, the patches already have all the optional files built in, so you don’t have to worry about separately applying those!

We’ve added instructions for patching your Melee to SD Remix on our installation instructions. You can check it out here: https://sdremix.com/installation/iso-hacking/from-a-patch-recommended/

We’ve also updated our downloads page and guides to reflect this new method, including our Netplay Guide.

That’s it for now. Happy Smashing!
